Review patient presentation, physician action, allegations and risk management considerations for hospital medicine. The ultimate goal in publishing this activity is to help physicians practice safe medicine.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
  • recognize strategies to improve patient care, avoid litigation and enhance defensibility in the event of a lawsuit;
  • explain how good documentation techniques can help prevent malpractice claims;
  • identify ways in which poor communication can jeopardize patient care; and
  • discuss common causes of medical liability claims in hospital care.
