Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 
  • describe the importanc of communication between physicians, staff, and other members of the health care team t help avoid a missed diagnosis;
  • summarize protocols for following up with test results that may help patient outcomes;
  • discuss how thorough documentation can help to create safer patient outcomes; and
  • illustrate scenarios that can cause a missed diagnosis and how to avoid them.
