recognize strategies to improve patient care, avoid litigation, and enhance defensibility in the event of a lawsuit; and
explain how good documentation techniques, improved communication, and follow up protocols can help prevent or defend malpractice claims.

She has more than 35 years’ experience in the health care industry, including clinical operations in hospital and outpatient settings, health care administration, and continuing education for physicians and other health care providers. Robin is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management and a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, American Nurses Association, South Texas Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Texas Nurses Association. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Salem State University (Salem, Massachusetts). Kassie Toerner, MBA, CPHRM, CHPC
Kassie Toerner joined TMLT in November 2012 and is the Manager of Risk Management. Currently her responsibilities include managing the risk management practice review team, providing risk management and HIPAA guidance, and serving as a contributor and speaker for TMLT webinars.
Prior to joining TMLT, Kassie served as a marketing operations and physician relations and recruitment specialist. Her duties included practice development and cultivating physician-hospital relationships. She was also responsible for developing, implementing, and managing medical service-line referral programs for an 11-county region. Kassie also developed and implemented a community outreach program that provided a wide range of preventative health care services.
Kassie is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management. Additionally, she is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and is certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance.
