Review patient presentation, physician action, allegations and risk management considerations for gastroenterology cases. The ultimate goal in publishing this activity is to help physicians practice safe medicine.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

recognize strategies to improve patient care, avoid litigation, and enhance defensibility in the event
of a lawsuit;
identify how communication lapses between staff, physicians, and patients may jeopardize optimal
patient care;
explain how good documentation techniques can help prevent and defend malpractice claims; and
discuss common causes of medical liability claims in gastroenterology.
