Vulnerable populations such as the elderly, minority communities, low-income communities, unhoused individuals, LGBTQ+ people, and the chronically ill or disabled are among those that face the most difficulty when accessing health care. It is important for physicians to recognize the characteristics and determinants of health in these populations. A thorough understanding of these vulnerable patient populations can help reduce disparities and strive toward more equitable access to care.
